Biography

At the age of 7, she began violin lessons with her father Kostadin Roussev, violinist and violist, who discovered her interest in music.

At the age of 13, she switched to viola, with which she was accepted at the Lyubomir Pipkov Music High School in Sofia. In 1996 Petia Rousseva graduated from the gymnasium with distinction.

She continued her education at the National Academy of Music «Pancho Vladigerov» in Sofia, in the class of Professor Stefan Zhilkov, graduating with a Masters in 2002.

In 2007 she finished her Master Class Diploma at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg in the class of Professor Reiner Schmidt, with distinction.

Petia Rousseva has extensive experience, as an orchestral and chamber musician, and as a soloist. In 2000-2002 she was a member of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2003-2004 she was a member of the Kammerphilharmonie Amadé and the Orchestra of the Meinfranken Theatre in Würzburg. Since 2004 she has been a member of the Staatstheater Oldenburg.
